Artifact Quest
A downloadable game for Windows
In a universe on the brink of collapse, you are a space traveler with a mission to save it from total corruption. To do so, you must craft a time machine and go back to the moment before the catastrophic event that set this chaos in motion.
The few remaining planets have barely survived, each one kept alive by a generator powered by a precious artifact. To build the time machine, you need these artifacts—but freeing them means replacing each generator's energy source with shards.
How to Play
- Planet Waves: Each planet spawns 8 waves of enemies. Defeat all enemies in a wave to earn a shard and a random upgrade. Once you collect 8 shards, you’ll be able to replace the generator’s power source and free the artifact.
- Artifact Defense: Each artifact is protected by 4 towers. Defend these towers from waves of enemies attacking the artifact. If all towers are destroyed, or if you are defeated, it’s game over. Gather 4 artifacts across different planets to craft the time machine and win the game!
- Upgrades and Shop: Between planet explorations, you can use collected scraps to buy upgrades from the shop. Scrap is earned by killing enemies or collecting crystals on the ground. Purchased perks will be delivered to you on the next planet, helping you prepare for the increasing challenge ahead. (using shards in the middle of a wave will give you even more scraps)
Goal
Explore, survive waves of enemies, and defend the artifacts to build the time machine and restore the universe.
Made this prototype in few weeks for a PS2 styled Game Jam, i unfortunately joined very late and had some issues packaging the game since it uses Unreal Engine's new procedural generations tools which i had to scrap a portion of it sadly due to the realtime generation not working properly on packaged builds. It still has some bugs and spawning issues which i will hopefully be able to fix when turning it into a fully fleshed game!
